“That stuck with me. “I miss you all the time, even when we’re together.”

💖Reminders Of Him by Colleen Hoover 💖 Chap 5

Let me just start this post off with stating that I was a Colleen Hoover virgin until this book! To be honest I’m not typically one to read those books creating “all the hype” over on Booktok and bookstagram. I love to find indie authors that write totally addictive stories for me to obsess over and I generally sway away from the bigger named authors like Colleen Hoover,Nora Roberts, Anne Rice, etc. Not that they don’t write incredible books, I’ve read my share of Nora Roberts believe me, I just feel like they have enough representation in this industry.

I’ve heard great things about Colleen Hoover’s writing and I was afraid I was going to be disappointed when the story didn’t live up to the hype. I am so glad that my curiosity got the best of me with this book because I feel like I would have missed out for sure! The beautiful colors on the cover lured me in and the compelling blurb made me read it! The story is gripping, the emotion is raw, the characters are realistic, and the emotional journey is intense! 5 Huge Stars from me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book roped me in from the very first page and refused to let me go! I don’t think I’ve ever shed so many tears during one novel. And I DO NOT cry during books! Ok once in awhile but nothing like this did to me! The emotional turmoil this book put me through was not expected and I found myself having to put it down because there were points I couldn’t see to read as I was blubbering so hard. Yet at the same time I couldn’t wait to stop crying so I could pick it back up and finish the book. This story destroyed me in every way leaving me with a thumping book hangover for weeks! And I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on that! Everyone needs a good cry and a book that leaves you so hungover you feel it in your soul every once in awhile! Am I right?!?

Warning!!⚠️⛔️!Spoilers Ahead!⛔️⚠️Warning!!

Kenna is so relatable and real and I absolutely adored her. She has just been released from prison for being behind the wheel drunk and causing an accident that takes the life of her first love Scotty. She is pregnant when she goes to jail and leaves her daughter Diem with Scotty’s parents, Diem’s grandparents.

When Kenna returns Scotty’s parents still blame her for taking their son and refuse to allow her to see Diem. She must figure out a way to make them forgive her and a job so she can stay close while she does.

Kenna stops in a bar and meets Ledger, the hot bartender and little does she know owner of the bar and Scotty’s best friend. They end up hitting it off and have a wild night in his truck in the bar alley. He ends up falling for her before he knows who she really is. Eventually he realizes that she is Diem’s mother and she realizes who he is. This leaves them in a complex situation.

“Pulling away from his kiss felt a little like trying to put out a forest fire with a nuclear bomb.”

🔥 ♥️ Kenna about Ledger ♥️🔥 Chap 7

Ledger is also known as Diem’s uncle and he lives beside Scotty’s parents house so he could be close to her. He adores Diem and Scotty’s parents fiercely and is worried about Kenna being brought back into Diem’s life. But as time goes on and he gets to know Kenna he starts to see that Kenna is just as broken hearted as Scotty’s parents are and it truly was an accident. Not only did Kenna lose Scotty and years of her life, she has now also lost a child. And that child has lost both parents not just one.

Kenna still writes letters to Scotty every day telling him how sorry she is and how much she loves and misses him. She tells him what’s new and exciting in her life and how her days play out. Ledger uses these to show Scotty’s parents that Kenna isnt the evil murderer they think she is. Eventually they accept Ledger and Kenna’s relationship and allow Kenna to meet and visit Diem.

Scotty wasn’t an actual character in the book but by the time the story played out I felt like I knew who he was as well. All of her characters were so well written. I felt like they were real people that I knew. This was something that I could see easily happening to me or one of my friends in real life. It made me question my viewpoint on the definition of a murderer.

I absolutely loved this book and can not recommend it enough! Especially if it is your first time reading a Colleen Hoover book like myself! You are in for a real treat! Grab your box of tissues and get ready for an emotional rollercoaster like you have never experienced! This book will rip your heart out and put it back together again! I will remember this story for the rest of my life and will be back for more novels by Colleen Hoover anytime I need to really get the feels!

“She’s quiet in a fierce way—a storm that sneaks up on you, and you don’t know it’s there until you feel the thunder rattle your bones. She’s quiet, but she’s said just enough to make me want the rest of her words.”
