So I was recommended to read The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo on Tiktok by all my book friends. I have never picked up a TJR book before and was pretty sceptical about it. I kept hearing YA romance and was unsure as I’m more of a dark romance reader but I am so glad I did!
I gave this book an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Taylor Jenkins Reid sure knows how to keep an audience captivated I quickly realized as I turned through the pages faster and faster, yet never wanting the story to end. The plot was full of twists and turns I didn’t see coming, and some I did, and the characters were all so realistic! This was truly incredible storytelling and I’m hooked on this author!
Without giving away too much of the plot I’ll say it tells the story of Evelyn Hugo’s life and her many suitors. It’s a compelling tale of wisdom, love and the lengths some people will go to rise to and remain at the top. Evelyn also reminds us that sometimes things aren’t always as they appear. A book that will truly stick with me through the years, this was one of my favorite reads of all time!
Im a proud Pride supporter, and have been with my girlfriend for 6 amazing years now, and when I picked up this book I noticed it was on the list for Novels to read for Pride Month on my Scribd account. I love how it compares traditional LGBTQ values with what today’s values are. The back and forth storytelling makes this book informative and easy to understand. It takes you into the glamorous world of Hollywood lovers, then and now, and makes you feel like you are right there beside them feeling each emotion as if it were you! I came out of this reading hangover with a better understanding of the hardships the LGBTQ community faced back then, and still does right to this very day.
I love books that make me see a new perspective on things and this was truly one of those amazing novels that I will never forget! This story made me laugh cry and hurt all in the same chapter. My heart ached for Evelyn and Celia and I wish there was more to their story.
